Already, more than 22 million Americans have cast early ballots. For many of them, this is their first election, including for singer Lila Downs. She is Mexican American with roots in both Minnesota and the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca, her birthplace.
Lila Downs just dropped a new song about Donald Trump called “The Demagogue,” and, as the title suggests, she goes in.
“We do not want a mental wall,” says the singer about the song she wrote, dedicated to Republican presidential candidate, inspired by the lack of respect to Latinos and women in particular.
